This Media Policy sets out how Margalla Heavy Industries Limited ("MHIL", "we", "us", or "our") engages with accredited and independent media, and how official information, imagery, and branding from our website (the "Site") may be referenced in news and public communications. It complements our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. It does not replace security, procurement, or facility-access rules that apply on MHIL premises.
1. Scope and Purpose
MHIL supports accurate, responsible reporting on Pakistan's defence industrial base and on our programmes, products, and public activities. This policy applies to:
- Print, broadcast, and online news organisations;
- Freelance journalists and documentary producers;
- Social media accounts operated by news outlets or verified reporters;
- Anyone republishing or adapting content sourced from the Site.
Content on the Site is provided for general information. It is not operational, contractual, or export-control guidance unless explicitly stated in an official MHIL release.
2. Media Enquiries and Official Statements
Requests for interviews, statements, facility visits, imagery, or background briefings should be directed to MHIL through official channels only. Unsolicited approaches to individual employees about sensitive programmes may not receive a response and must not be represented as official MHIL positions.
Only communications issued or expressly authorised by MHIL Corporate Communications (or designated spokespersons) may be attributed to MHIL as an organisation. Quotes, paraphrases, and summaries should be checked for accuracy before publication where time permits.
3. Use of Website Content and Imagery
Unless otherwise marked, text, photographs, videos, logos, and product renderings on the Site are owned by or licensed to MHIL. Media may:
- Quote brief excerpts from public pages for news reporting, with clear attribution to Margalla Heavy Industries Limited and a link to the source page where practicable;
- Use official images and videos published on the Site in editorial coverage, without alteration that misrepresents the subject, equipment, or context;
- Use MHIL logos only in connection with factual reporting about MHIL, not in a way that implies endorsement of third-party products or opinions.
Media must not:
- Crop, filter, or edit imagery to suggest capabilities, affiliations, or events that are false or misleading;
- Use Site materials in paid advertising, political campaigning, or merchandise without prior written consent;
- Scrape or bulk-download media assets for stock libraries or unrelated commercial use.
4. Filming, Photography, and Site Visits
MHIL facilities are security-controlled environments. Photography, filming, drone operation, or live broadcasting on or from MHIL premises requires advance written approval, appropriate accreditation, and compliance with safety and confidentiality briefings.
Journalists and crews must follow instructions from MHIL security and escorts at all times. Equipment, footage, and recordings may be subject to review before departure where classified, export-controlled, or personally sensitive information could be captured.
5. Accuracy, Security, and Sensitive Information
Reporting should respect national security, personal privacy, and contractual confidentiality. Do not publish:
- Details of classified programmes, vulnerabilities, or force disposition unless officially released;
- Personal data from Chairman Portal submissions, contact forms, or employee directories;
- Speculation presented as confirmed fact about contracts, deliveries, or operational status.
If MHIL identifies a factual error in published coverage, we may request a correction or clarification. Good-faith corrections are appreciated.
6. Embargoes and Coordinated Releases
From time to time MHIL may share materials under embargo for a specified date and time. Embargoed content must not be published, broadcast, or shared on social media before the embargo lifts unless MHIL agrees otherwise in writing. Breaking an agreed embargo may affect future access to briefings and materials.
7. Social Media and User-Generated Coverage
News organisations and reporters referencing MHIL on social platforms should apply the same standards of accuracy and attribution as in traditional media. Tagging or mentioning MHIL does not constitute an official response unless posted from MHIL-verified accounts.
MHIL is not responsible for comments, reposts, or interpretations made by third parties on social networks.
8. Updates
We may revise this Media Policy to reflect changes in law, security practice, or Site content. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the current version. Continued use of Site materials for reporting after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy to the extent applicable.
